The “Philosophical Issues in Psychiatry Research Group” (PPRG) is co-founded and co-directed by Gary Gala and Daniel Moseley. The group began as a reading group in September 2010 and has developed into a forum for promoting research at the intersection of the disciplines of philosophy and psychiatry. Our primary goal is to promote high-quality discussions, lectures and research in this rapidly growing field of interdisciplinary study.
We’re based in the Research Triangle of NC and the group includes faculty, advanced undergraduates, graduate students, medical students and residents from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University and North Carolina State University. We also have regularly attending members that are practicing clinicians and therapists in the Research Triangle.
We are affiliated with the International Network for Philosophy and Psychiatry (INPP), the Association for the Advancement of Philosophy and Psychiatry (AAPP), The Expression, Communication and Origins of Meaning Research Group (ECOM), The Parr Center for Ethics, and The Center for Bioethics at UNC.
If you have questions about the group, would like to be added to the list-serv or if you have any suggestions for the webpage, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
